Meditation

For me, the voice is an extension of the soul. When we sing (without fear, without shame, in tune or not) we enter a place of surrender, redemption, and vulnerability. It is in this place that I so often find myself, forgive myself, and allow myself to be. Today, Friday, is Durga's Day | दुर्गा, the Mother of the Universe. And on this day, my voice always goes to Her. Whether with more concentration and rigor (with the Stotram Śrīmahiṣāsuramardinī) or with improvisation and digression (in this “Hey Ma Durga”, by Krishna Das), the intention is always the same: to seek protection and inner strength in Her. Here is a small snippet from our “meeting” today, in one of my favorite corners of the house. A hug, Joana #singing #durga #heymadurga #mantrahealing
