Yesterday, June 21st, was International Yoga Day, a moment recognised around the world to celebrate the extraordinary gift that yoga offers to so many people. And while it’s wonderful to have a day dedicated to it, I think we all know that what makes yoga truly meaningful is not one day but the quiet commitment of showing up again and again, week after week, on the mat. Which brings to mind sutra 1.14: sa tu dirgha-kala-nairantarya-satkara-asevito drdha-bhumih — practice becomes firmly established when it has been cultivated uninterruptedly, with sincere devotion, over a long period of time. This is what you do, every week. Not because of a date in the calendar, but because you have felt the difference it makes. That is worth celebrating every single day.
