Discipline vs. Motivation Flexibility, strength, presence, and balance all come with the practice of yoga. But in my experience, I believe one of the things I learned most from yoga was discipline. And sometimes I wondered, why was discipline important? Well, we won't always have motivation (a reason for action), and that's where discipline comes in. We won't always be motivated to do what we set out to do, or what we think is important to us, whatever it may be. It's much easier to do something when we're motivated and when we have energy, but what about when we don't? Do we stop doing it? Do we give up? Many times, yes, but when we have discipline, it sustains us. Discipline is being aware of our actions, our habits, our routine, and especially ourselves. Because only when we are conscious can we observe ourselves and know when we are making excuses or when we really need a break. Observing yourself and seeking to know yourself better is the first step. And do you know yourself? #yogapractice #discipline
