I’m not performing and you aren’t on the mat performing either. I’m not entertaining you and you aren’t there to please me. - A Yoga class / workshop is not a performance and since our day to day can be so demanding and chaotic already I aim to simplify what I offer. I will not say what you should be feeling physically and emotionally. - I try to stay away from sentences that begin with - “ You should be feeling this XYZ…” I prefer words like: you might, maybe, perhaps, possibly. Dear student you have a unique body structure, nervous system and life history. Each class will present you with a unique experience. Even the way you slept the night before will influence your practice! Also as much as I wish I could, I can’t make you feel anything including feeling safe, relaxed, energized etc. But with my years of experience and natural sensitivity I can read a room and apply techniques and exercises that will help you potentially reach certain states. I invite you to show up as you are and ride the waves. How each student feels mentally, emotionally and physically will depend for each person and no teacher can be in your body to know. As I often say - “Listen to your body first, listen to me second”. And don’t worry too much if you’re still on a journey developing your somatic intelligence and intuition, just keep checking in with yourself and more clarity will arise with time.
