Yoga Life

Susana Soromenho

some people keep saying to me “you travel all the time”; “you don’t work, do you?”; “your work must be traveling”; “you have a good life and good finances, you travel so much”. but why do I travel so much? it is definitely a very personal and very very sensitive reason. long story short: my father passed away May 2015 after being diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme September 2014. 8 months that sound like 8 years (or 8 lives). definitely a harsh phase of my life... I saw him dying in front of my eyes, more and more each day. and his last words to me were “travel as much as you can. make the trips that I can’t do anymore” while he was laying in bed with no strength to keep going. so unconsciously (or consciously) it’s my way of remembering him, “talking” to him, honoring him... I have a normal life, work my 9-5 job and make a lot of effort on saving money. I just might have different priorities than those that come up with those hasty conclusions. when you find yourself making your assumptions next time, I challenge you to take a step back. leave your ego out. leave your (limiting/distorting) beliefs out. be considerate and compassionate. you might know little of what happens with the other person’s human experience
