Yoga Life

Karol De Souza

As a yoga teacher and working mom in my late 30s, my practice looks very different than it did in my 20s. These are 3 yoga poses I almost never do anymore — not because they’re “bad,” but because they simply don’t serve my body in this season of life: Arm balances – They make my shoulders and neck feel tighter, not stronger. These days, I’d rather build stability through gentler, mindful movements.
Too many forward folds – I used to chase deep hamstring stretches… until my body started saying no more. A little mobility goes a long way.
Planks & chaturangas on repeat – My wrists and shoulders get so stiff afterward. I’ve learned to modify or skip them entirely when my body’s asking for rest. Yoga should evolve with your life — not compete with it.
